Glycation is a nonenzymatic post-translational modification which has been found to be involved in various biological processes and closely associated with many metabolic diseases. The accurate identification of glycation sites is important to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of glycation. As the traditional experimental methods are often labor-intensive and time-consuming, it is desired to develop computational methods to predict glycation sites. In this study, a novel predictor named BPB_GlySite is proposed to predict lysine glycation sites by using bi-profile bayes feature extraction and support vector machine algorithm. As illustrated by 10-fold cross-validation, BPB_GlySite achieves a satisfactory performance with a Sensitivity of 63.68%, a Specificity of 72.60%, an Accuracy of 69.63% and a Matthew’s correlation coefficient of 0.3499. Experimental results also indicate that BPB_GlySite significantly outperforms three existing glycation sites predictors: NetGlycate, PreGly and Gly-PseAAC. Therefore, BPB_GlySite can be a useful bioinformatics tool for the prediction of glycation sites. A user-friendly web-server for BPB_GlySite is established at 123.206.31.171/BPB_GlySite/. 相似文献

We consider the problem of minimizing the makespan on a batch processing machine, in which jobs are not all compatible. Only compatible jobs can be included into the same batch. This relation of compatibility is represented by a split graph. Jobs have release dates. The capacity of the batch processing machine is finite or infinite. The processing time of a batch is given by the processing time of the longest job in the batch. We establish the NP-hardness of the general problem and present polynomial algorithms for several special cases. This paper addresses the NP-hard problem of scheduling N jobs on a single machine with due dates, sequence-dependent setup times and no preemption where the objective is to minimize the maximum tardiness. An algorithm based on branch-and-bound permutation schemes is developed including the implementation of lower and upper bounding procedures, and three dominance rules. Computational experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the work done, during the 1968–2005, in the application of statistical and intelligent techniques to solve the bankruptcy prediction problem faced by banks and firms. The review is categorized by taking the type of technique applied to solve this problem as an important dimension. Accordingly, the papers are grouped in the following families of techniques: (i) statistical techniques, (ii) neural networks, (iii) case-based reasoning, (iv) decision trees, (iv) operational research, (v) evolutionary approaches, (vi) rough set based techniques, (vii) other techniques subsuming fuzzy logic, support vector machine and isotonic separation and (viii) soft computing subsuming seamless hybridization of all the above-mentioned techniques. Of particular significance is that in each paper, the review highlights the source of data sets, financial ratios used, country of origin, time line of study and the comparative performance of techniques in terms of prediction accuracy wherever available.
